Hello everyone!

ETA: Less than one week to go! PM me if you need a contact number to call, especially if you think you'll be running late.

I'm putting a post here in my journal to spread the word about an idea [livejournal.com profile] huskyfriends and I have been batting around. We love spending time getting really awesome photos of cosplay (like when we spent time with [livejournal.com profile] adistantshadow at Wizard World, that was fun!) and we thought, why not make a day of it and get a big group together to get photos at some great locations we know of. I've been to a few gatherings organized on the Anime Central forums, like the Acen Aftermath Photoshoot in 2007 where at one point we had around 50-60 people walking en masse around downtown Chicago. It's great fun!

So, we would like to create a Whoniverse cosplay photoshoot gathering on Saturday, October 24th, 2009.

So the rough plan for the day (subject to change depending on how the time runs, and who we have going) is:

Meet at the Starbucks on Higgins in Rosemont by 9 am (some of us will be there as early as 8, hanging out)

First stop will be the Rosemont Fountain. Carole knows where there's parking (and we'll get directions for everyone beforehand, when it gets closer to the date), there's lots of lovely garden area around the fountain.

Second stop will be Wright College. The library building is this really awesome pyramid shape and there's also some roundish tunnels that could look really cool.

Third stop is Northeastern Illinois University. The administration building is the Torchwood logo, seriously!!! It's all hexigons! It's referred to as the Beehive and for good reason. So totally need to get any Torchwood cosplayers in front of that. Plus there's some neat garden seating areas that we could get great shots in and if there's time, the basement tunnels could totally look like the Hub. We know all the really hidden secret tunnels too :)

Fourth stop is Osterman Beach (it's kind of between the Bryn Mawr and Hollywood exits from Lake Shore Drive, just north of Foster Beach). This will be for the Bad Wolf Bay shots and maybe Torchwood by the Bay shots.

Last photo stop is Dominican University. Old old buildings with a gothic look to them. :)

Then, we were thinking dinner at Flat Top grill in Oak Park (about a five minute drive from DU).

Carole is stage managing a theatre show in Oak Park so she will have to leave for her 6:30 PM call. So after dinner people have the option of going home, going to see the show Carole is stage managing, going to see a movie at the Lake Theatre just down the street from Flat Top ($6.50 student rate!) or wandering around Oak Park.

Any Whoniverse cosplays are welcome. If you're coming please comment on this post and let me know what costume or costumes you think you'll be bringing so we can start coming up with shot ideas. We've found it's best to come up with some ideas BEFORE hand because then I'm standing there going "I dunno what pose to do, what do you want me to do?" and Carole's brainstorming what to make me do :) Of course, if you comment and can't make it that's fine; likewise, it's not a reservation, you can come without commenting that you are. I just figure it's good to start getting ideas of who we might have character-wise and what kinds of poses and pictures we can do and also, what props I should start digging out :D

We've already got an offer of babysitting services ([livejournal.com profile] omni_chan I'm looking at you! Bring your daughter!!) if anyone has little ones coming along. Of course, we'd love to have them in costume too (or we had the thought..get a couple of pointing to the sky pics a la Torchwood: Children of Earth).

Except for the fountain and the beach, all the locations will have bathrooms, and if you want to bring along multiple costumes, ample places to change.

So....who might be interested in coming? Characters? We've already started brainstorming and we have a load of great ideas already but the more the merrier! Pass along the word, we'd love to have a great big group. Any and all Whoniverse costumes are welcome and also non-cosplayers are welcome too. I'd love to have multiple photographers come along to this. Comment away! :D

*HUG* I wish you could come, that would be so awesome! Maybe someday though, you could always come out here for Acen (there's an awesome bunch of Doctor Who fans who staff the special needs department ;)

Yay!! That would be great! Especially since I am trying to pull together Boom Town Jack right now (I won't have the jacket but I got the pants and I'm hunting for my blue shirt)

I responded on the forums (no idea how I missed this post!) but I have a bachelor's party in Chicago that day, but it might be late enough so I can make it. I'll let you know for sure when it gets closer, but it sounds like fun! Donna would enjoy making an appearance, Oi!

Yay for Donna! I was hoping you'd be able to come! Since Carole has a show to stage manage we will most likely be wrapping everything up by six pm, but you could easily cut out earlier.

And that is an epic icon! :D
