My undergrad degree is in Mass Media and Theatre, with some Communications (my degree actually says "Speech & Performing Arts" but the department changed its name a year later to Communications, Media and Theatre)

My graduate degree is a Master's in Library and Information Science.

I'm currently working as a cataloger. So I use the grad work more but occasionally my theatre background comes in handy :)

I'm weird. I'm not a big holiday movie person. My Christmas movie would really be Ghostbusters II (what, it counts, it's Christmas time!)

I already did a wishlist post but basically - electronics, Doctor Who, and wishing for better/new jobs for me and my friends & family :)

Though kitchen gadgets for my future kitchen wouldn't hurt ;)

My fiancee [livejournal.com profile] rengeek :) He's growing out his mustache for November, to raise cancer awareness. Because we're both passionate about fundraising for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life, with our team, Team GEEK.

I dunno. It would take some money, but if I can have my knitting and books I guess I could survive. I would definitely have withdrawal like woah. Cuz just recently when my home internet went down it was hard enough but then when I forgot my phone in my friend's car & was without it for about 5 hours I *really* suffered withdrawal. I watched TV and flipped through books but not being able to text my boyfriend or check my email was rough.

I freely admit I am addicted to the internet & even worse to my iPhone. But yeah I guess you could pay me to give all that up for a week. Especially if it's enough money to buy an iMac and Photoshop ;)

Oh my goodness. Um, that I have way too many interests?

On the easy accessible shelves right now is a combination of manga (Gintama, Ghost Hunt, Library Wars, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Kingdom Hearts, etc), Doctor Who tie-in novels (both recent hardcovers and a few of the old Target paperbacks), a bunch of knitting books, Torchwood tie-in novels, John Barrowman's autobiographies, Star Trek novels, some old scifi (including Scavengers in Space, which Jack is reading in my icon), Torchwood and Doctor Who encyclopedias, a couple of baking books, some other graphic novels (Scary Godmother, Ghostbusters, Star Trek manga, Doctor Who, etc), Ghostbusters novel, Quantum Leap novels, and more. And that's just what I can get to without moving stuff!!!

If all my books were together there'd be that plus lots more scifi novels, crafting books, compilations of comic strips (I only have one volume of Unshelved and when I have $$ that will need to be corrected), lots of true ghost stories, history books, Harry Potter, more cookbooks, LOTS more knitting books, Shakespeare, and more.

Yeah that library Belle has in Beauty and the Beast? I so needs it. BADLY. Of course if I had that many shelves they would be filled. And organized properly with a local catalog with full MARC records in it. :D

Pern. I've always wanted to see the world of Pern (from Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series) since I started reading the books. It just sounds so beautiful! Yeah there's Thread and other nasty things but it just sounds like a gorgeous beautiful world.

Plus I wanna ride a dragon.

Ghostbusters.

Seriously, one day I was bored out of my skull and I started from the librarian walking through the stacks and mentally played the movie through. I was just past the "Fire and brimstone coming down from the sky, rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes! The dead rising from the grave! Dogs and cats, living together, mass hysteria!" lines when I realized what I was doing and scared myself.

I know Ghostbusters II slightly less well. But enough that every time I see the Gainsboro's Blue Boy painting I have a giggle fit. (the bathroom in Mary's Attic where ARFTCo's been doing their TV reruns has a replica of Blue Boy. Yes, I cracked up when I saw it.)

Actually, yes I am very happy with my job. Took me long enough but I found a job I love to death. Last week I was feeling kind of crummy, and I could have called off but I was like, no, I don't want to miss work! HUGE change from my last job where I would have been like "blah I can't stop sneezing so I'm not going in."

I would say I'm in my dream job. Only one thing would make it perfect - full time and benefits. But I get to sit at my OWN DESK (I am way happier about that than I should be) and look at books all day! I love copy cataloging and I cannot wait until I get caught up enough that I can spend a day doing original cataloging on a few books I've set aside (that's super time consuming...but WAY fun!)

Five or ten years from now I want to be doing just this, but making a little more money and getting benefits. I'm working on my Masters in Library Science, and next semester I hope to be able to take advanced cataloging next semester.

Easy, that would be for the Apple store and it would go toward my iMac that I am coveting. It's around $2,000 so that would go a long way toward it.

Now, if I got a $5,000 Apple store gift certificate then I would share with friends because I'd get the iMac and a gigantic Time Capsule (was I imagining it or did I see a 2 or 5 TB one?), then the remaining money would go toward an iPhone for me, and iPods for Carole & Joanna (probably a Touch for Carole and a Nano for Joanna). If I had any money still, then Apple TV and a portable external hard drive that's around 300-500 GB to keep my video collection on.

Yes, I have sadly thought this out very thoroughly.

Star Trek. Original, classic Star Trek.

I mean, I like a LOT of space-based fandoms. I like Star Wars, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Spaceballs, Doctor Who, etc.etc. but original Star Trek will always be my favourite.

Well I'm planning a major rehaul of my icons because there's a lot I don't use much but I'd say this one I hardly ever use but I can't take it down because come on, it's Donna!!

(hee and I never noticed how cute the "hungry" mood icon for the Dalek is! Look, he's holding out an electrical cord! *giggle*)
