Blogging from ALA!

Hi all!
I'm sitting here in the "Taking RDA for a test drive" session and I've found a spot to plug in my laptop (Ianto is happy, he's not spending a long session on battery) and I am confused as all get out so I'm blogging :D
So yesterday was a quiet (kinda) day. I went to the NMRT conference 101, which was pretty helpful. I took notes that I'll post later once I make them coherent. The executive director gave out his personal cell phone, which ROCKS. I started my ribbon collection there, with a NMRT ribbon. Then I took a shuttle bus to the Sheraton for the mentor social and met a very nice lady who works for the DuPage Library System (and I work in a DLS member library), which was great. Then a nice gentleman from New York that I met there and I took a CTA bus over to the Hilton for the NMRT meet & greet, which was okay. Then I checked out the gaming session and came away with some magnetic poetry words, a little set of magnetix type toys, and another ribbon. I went home from there.
Today I drove, so I could dump in my car, GOOD IDEA. WORTH the $19 parking. I have about five good sized bags full to bursting sitting in my car. I skipped Gregory Maguire's talk because I got there a bit late and instead scouted the ALA store, hit the washroom, found a copy of Cognotes and two more ribbons (first timer and ALA member) and then watched the ribbon cutting. I went in the door by where they did the ribbon cutting and started heading toward the other entrance, which was closer to the Unshelved booth aisle. I ran into
booksavvy right there, great timing, and we started wandering together. First stop was the Unshelved booth, Gene and Bill are awesome! I was blabbing about Torchwood with another lady to Gene. :D I is GEEK! Got my "read irresponsibly" ribbon there. Then we just started wandering and gathering free stuff! Too much fun. :) We made a stop at our cars to drop stuff, went back in, made another dump, and then went to lunch with a group of her classmates from Indiana State University. Then we split after lunch, I went and grabbed my laptop for taking notes at RDA and she went back in the exhibits. Oh and we added to our ribbon collections (I think we're tied now), with Twitter ribbons, and I got a Second Life Librarian one, and she grabbed a Choice one. Two more and I should hit my knees :D
I'm in this lengthy RDA session now but I'm really tempted to leave, because it's not explaining it well and I can barely see the screen. And I want to trawl the exhibits more...
Oh and here's a shot of the ribbon collection:

Anyway that's all for now. My schedule for tomorrow is changed a bit because Stacey gave me her ticket to the Newberry Caldecott banquet since she has to head back to Indiana. *HUGS* I'm excited, Neil Gaiman got the Newberry for his Graveyard Book and I can't wait to hear him speak. *dances*
