From the adverts I've seen, it looks good . . . but I haven't read it yet and I think I saw somewhere that it makes more sense if you've read the series.

Yeah my dad didn't read it and he said he was a bit confused.

Definitely worth reading, I'm actually gonna read it again this weekend because Monday there's a book discussion at my local library about it. :)
